offshore medical including hearing test

A specialised examination for individuals in offshore professions. This assessment ensures workers are physically and mentally fit for the demanding offshore environment. Key components of the examination include:

Screening Questionnaire: A brief overview of the individual’s health history.

Physical Measurements: Assessments of weight, height, and Body Mass Index (BMI).

Vitals Check: Basic checks like pulse and blood pressure.

Hearing Test (Audiometry): To ensure no hearing impairments due to the noisy offshore platforms.

Vision Testing: Evaluations for clear sight and colour identification. The primary aim is to detect any health risks or abnormalities that might affect an individual's offshore work capability, ensuring safety and optimal performance.

11 Point drug screen & alcohol testing

Safety and efficiency are the cornerstones of maritime operations. In this context, our drug screen plays a pivotal role in ensuring the well-being and optimal performance of crew members.

We are fully trained in drug and alcohol screening to include chain of custody testing. This comprehensive drug testing service, tailored specifically for maritime professionals, screens for six commonly abused substances. These substances, if present in the system, can severely impair judgment, coordination, and reaction times — all of which are crucial for the demanding environment at sea.

The test not only ensures that seafarers are free from these impairing drugs but also acts as a deterrent, promoting a culture of responsibility and awareness. Given the isolated and often challenging conditions onboard, it's imperative that every crew member is at their physical and mental best. The presence of drugs can compromise not only the individual's safety but also the safety of the entire vessel and its operations.

With swift and accurate results, our drug screen upholds the highest standards of maritime medicine, safeguarding both individual crew members and the broader maritime community.

Spirometry

In the maritime world, where the environment can be both physically demanding and confined, ensuring the respiratory health of crew members is of utmost importance. Spirometry stands as a cornerstone test in this regard, offering a detailed evaluation of an individual's lung function.

Spirometry measures the volume and speed of air a person can inhale and exhale, providing crucial insights into the health of the respiratory system. For seafarers, this test is especially vital. Whether it's the potential exposure to engine fumes, the salty sea air, or the physical demands of shipboard tasks, a crew member's lungs are constantly put to the test.

By regularly assessing lung function through spirometry, maritime medical professionals can detect early signs of respiratory conditions, such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, or other obstructive and restrictive lung diseases. Early detection not only ensures timely intervention but also helps in making informed decisions about a seafarer's fitness for duty.

Fitness to Return to Work (Forms & Report)

In the maritime sector, the health and well-being of crew members are paramount, especially given the physically demanding and often isolated nature of their roles. Our Fitness to Return to Work service is a comprehensive assessment designed to evaluate a seafarer's medical and physical readiness to resume duties after an illness, injury, or extended absence.

This assessment goes beyond a mere health check. It delves into the specific demands of maritime roles, ensuring that returning crew members can safely perform their tasks without risking their health or the safety of others onboard.

The process involves a thorough medical examination, functional capacity evaluation, and, if necessary, specialised tests tailored to the individual's role on the ship. Upon completion, a detailed report is generated, providing insights into the individual's current health status, potential limitations, and recommendations for any accommodations or adjustments needed onboard.

This report, combined with the necessary forms, provides both the seafarer and the maritime employer with a clear understanding of the individual's readiness to return to work.
